One of the concepts I developed when working with the Sport for Social Change Network Africa (SSCNA) was the Sport for Social Change Africa Awards. The team at the SSCNA did a wonderful job of pulling the event together with the assistance of the Leading Like Mandela Foundation, African Union Sports Council and South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC).

Some six months ago the inaugural Sport for Social Change Awards were held at a gala event held in Johannesburg and broadcast live on SABC. A recording of the event can be found below.

Nominations for the 2023 Sport for Social Change Awards are now open. There are eight categories of awards for members of the network. Five categories which are open to all organisations across Africa using sport as a vehicle for individual and community development and one award for the person who has made a major contribution to sport for social change in Africa.
